As we enter 2026, we are honored to share an Instagram post from Abby Ekberg. We trust this article will help set your focus on what is true, good, and beautiful in 2026.

Cursing, Calories, and Clickbait.

I’m sure you see it. When it comes to the culture of social media, this is the air we breathe, and it’s really what social media thrives off of.

Cursing

Cursing, because if you want to fit in, it’s no longer acceptable to have a good vocabulary. You must fit in with the crowds and use your tongue not only with vulgar speech, but also in ways that only cut people down, spread gossip, and delight in what is not true, honorable, just, impure, unlovely, and unacceptable in the sight of a holy God.

Calories

Calories, because our world is so fixated on our bodies and what we put in that we pay little to no attention to the nourishing of our souls. We are consumed by what everyone else is eating that day that we ourselves starve our souls of that which is true nourishment and gorge ourselves on seeking the wisdom—the perfect and almost unattainable wisdom—of our peers to make sure we, too, are eating what’s right to make sure we, too, look, act, and feel confident in and of ourselves.

Clickbait

Clickbait, because we no longer want to know the truth. We just want what’s flashy, and we love drama. And sometimes, our love of drama then makes us almost wish for the crazy thing to happen because we can’t wait to read that flashy, click-bait title and think to ourselves, “I am sooooo much better than they are. I can’t believe they did that. I’m glad I’m not like them.” We are quick to assume, rush to assumptions, and care far too much of the world’s affairs than being about the business of our Heavenly Father.

What are we Meditating On?

These are only three pitfalls that I often see. I know there are more, but these are so very prevalent, especially among women. Use discernment. Filter all that you see through the grid of Scripture. And as you consider these things, see if you see them popping up in your algorithm, and then ask yourself, “Are these the things I want to be meditating on? The things the LORD wants me to meditate on?”

And as you use social media, YOU be the one not to join in, but rather, set an example for others. Use your words to speak the truth loudly and boldly, yet with love and gentleness. Use your content to promote looking to Christ, who is the true source of beauty.

And use your platform (big or small) not as a conduit of gossip and grime, self-promotion and self-obsession, but of grace and truth. Abhor what is evil. Hold fast to what is good.
