No Better News

The longer I walk, the more clearly I see that there truly is no greater joy, no better news, and nothing else that makes my heart soar than the Gospel.

Because the longer I walk, the more clearly I see how deep my sin is.

It’s more than surface level.

It’s a heart problem.

It’s a disease you and I both are infected with and are hopelessly afflicted with apart from Jesus.

And the more I see how deeply I am infected with sin, the more I see my need to throw off every single weight and sin and absolutely run to Jesus for my righteousness.

I have absolutely NO righteousness of my own; yet, the righteousness of Christ, in all its perfection and brilliance, is offered to me by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

And even as a sinner made saint, my good deeds are simply a response to the grace I’ve been shown through Christ. And when I see the good news of the Gospel, I am refreshed, I’m delighted, and I marvel.

His righteousness, not mine. His work, not mine. His perfection, not mine. For I could never do what He has done. I could never do enough to appease the holy, just, perfect wrath of God. Yet it had to be paid. And God, in His infinite mercy, has offered complete pardon for the sinner who trusts in HIS sufficient sacrifice because Jesus, the perfect Son of

God, took on all of God’s wrath FOR us. How can you hear that and your heart not almost burst from utter joy?

The more I see my sin, the more I rejoice that it is NOT my own doing that saves me, but the merit of my Savior. And His merit is SUFFICIENT.

Sinner, run to Jesus, for “He will no wise cast out.” He offers you this free gift. Repent of your sin and trust in Him.

And sinner made saint, rejoice with me. Rejoice in the utterly astounding beauty of the Gospel, for it is indeed good news to the poor in spirit.
